Long-Time Broadcaster Norm Alpert Dies

Alpert passed away peacefully on Monday at the age of 89. Back in 1971 Alpert stepped out of the media rep business at Eastman Radio and into radio station ownership with his acquisition of WHOM-FM in New Hampshire.

After moving to Naples he began construction of a new radio station, WAVV 101.1FM. His professional achievements with WAVV were permanently memorialized in the official Congressional Record on the floor of the U.S. Congress by Congressman Francis Rooney in 2018. Mr. Alpert also founded and co-owned radio stations in Sarasota, FL, Greenville, SC, and Knoxville, TN.
