What’s Next For WGN Radio?

In the TV world, Nexstar is acquiring Tribune for what amounts to $4.1 billion. In that purchase Nexstar will pick up WGN-AM radio and CEO Perry Sook didn’t have anything to say about the radio station on a company conference call Monday.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that whether Nexstar plans to keep or sell WGN Radio has not been determined. The deal will make Nexstar the biggest owner of TV station, unseating Sinclair.

  1. Such a sad end to a tremendous legacy station. This is what happens when snake oil salesmen are allowed to be radio execs and play with broadcast properties. Unfortunately the industry is filled with them.
