Big Anniversary For WPSC-FM/Wayne, NJ

William Paterson University’s WPSC 88.7 FM will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 8. DJs from all three decades will man the mics around the clock leading up to a special alumni brunch marking the anniversary.

The special broadcasts will feature music from the era of the corresponding DJ. “The goal is to recreate the sound and imaging of those eras each day by bringing back students, now alumni, of the time that were critical in transitioning WPSC to an FM licensed radio station and giving our heartfelt gratitude for their passion and commitment to the station,” said Sebastian Escobar, Station Manager.

The celebration will also give the university community a chance to recognize WPSC for being honored with the 2018 Marconi Radio Award for Non-Commercial Station of the Year by the National Association of Broadcasters. Escobar views the award as proof “that college radio is most certainly alive and kicking, and that it is still such a critical medium for showcasing independent music, as well as giving a voice to the aspirations of college students.”
