KHQT-FM 103.1, Las Cruces, NM, ushered in the holiday season by collecting food items and cash for the annual Pack the Van Food Drive. The two-day event was in partnership with Toucan Market, which hosted the remote broadcasts.
Five hundred pounds of food and more than $1,100 in donations will benefit Casa De Peregrinos, a local non-profit emergency food program. The food and cash will provide more than 6,000 meals for those in need.
“I’m grateful to the staff for stepping up every year to make sure we help those in need in our community. The power of radio can have a great impact on a local community,” said PD Joey Hernandez. “The community came through in a big way once again,” added GM Mike Jensen. “I’m proud of how our staff rallied to help the food bank and Las Cruces families this Thanksgiving.”
