Jason Aldean made the call this year to radio stations and personalities letting them know they were 2018 CMA Award winners. Westwood One’s Lon Helton won National Personality of the Year and told Radio Ink CMA’s longstanding tradition of having a country music star notify the CMA Broadcast Award winners elevates the honor to a whole other level. “Jason Aldean told me he was about to make my day even better, and boy, did he! It’s simply overwhelming to be the CMA’s National Broadcast Personality of the Year for the ninth time. There are no words… except, of course, for Thank You!”
It is Helton’s ninth CMA award.
