Toledo’s WVZC Launches A First

WVZC-LP 96.5FM Nuestra Gente, Toledo’s only 24-hour Spanish-language FM radio station, has announced another first. The station has launched the city’s first-ever Spanish-language radio newscast, Nuestra Gente Noticias.

The newscast is broadcast weekdays at noon and features local, national, and international news, sports, entertainment, and other headlines of interest to Toledo’s Latino population.

Nuestra Gente founder and WVZC President Linda Parra said, “For the first time, Toledo’s Spanish-speaking population can get vital information in their native language. Now those who may not speak and understand English well can stay informed by turning on their radios – in the car, at home, or at work. This gives people easy access to information. They don’t have to go anywhere. They can stay informed right where they live. We bring the world of information directly to them.”

WVZC, a public, nonprofit station, has been on the air since Dec. 30.
