The Friends of mvyradio Board of Directors have appointed Paul J. Finn (aka PJ) to the position of Executive Director, effective August 1. PJ has been part of mvyradio at 88.7 on the FM dial, and its predecessor station at 92.7, for 18 years, most recently serving as Interim Executive Director.
Finn’s radio career began in 1994 at WABN in Abingdon, Virginia, where he served as an afternoon DJ for six years. He joined the staff of WMVY, under PD Barbara Dacey in the fall of 2000, as mvyradio’s morning DJ and PD. In 2005, he was promoted to afternoon DJ and PD. As Interim Director, PJ worked closely with the Board and staff to navigate appointments, onboard new staff, and deal with an exceptionally busy summer season, a highly successful on-air fundraiser, and some important exploratory conversations about mvyradio’s future.
Chair of the Friends of mvyradio Board of Directors, Kathleen Teehan, said, “PJ Finn is the right person to lead the station at this point in its history. Our plans for growth, relocation to a new and up-to-date facility, collaboration with the many other non-profit organizations in our region to highlight the services they provide to our communities, and the wonderful music and promotion of musicians we offer will continue to develop with his oversight and guidance.
