Radio Showing Strength In The Face Of A Storm

It’s been a summer of natural disasters and radio isn’t taking it lying down. WTMJ Radio and 94.5 KTI Country have initiated “Wisconsin Strong – Storm Relief” — a fundraiser to benefit the victims of this month’s historic severe weather and flooding around the state of Wisconsin — which will take place Friday, August 31, 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“Many towns in our state have been ravaged by high winds and major flooding,” said Tom Langmyer, VP and General Manager of WTMJ and WKTI, and VP News/Talk/Sports for The E.W. Scripps Company. “We want to encourage our listeners to help our neighbors recover from the major damage left in the wake of these powerful storms. Through our radiothon this Friday, story coverage, and grassroots volunteerism, we hope to make a positive and quick difference in our region.”

Record flooding in WTMJ Radio’s listening area caused by more than a foot of rain in less than 24 hours has caused major damage.

“All money raised goes directly to storm and flood relief around the state of Wisconsin, and will support victims with shelter, food, and clean-up kits,” said Eric Brooks, WTMJ Director of Programming and News. “We’re grateful to our sister station, KTI Country, for their partnership, and to Today’s TMJ4 for their coverage in support of those who have lost so much.”

The WTMJ “Wisconsin Strong – Storm Relief” Radiothon airs between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Friday, August 31. Volunteers from the American Red Cross will be taking donations at 414-967-5417. Listeners can also donate online at WTMJ.com and KTICOUNTRY.com.
