Beasley’s Q2 Up A Tad

The net revenue increase was $600K (1%) in Q2 for Beasley Media Group. Wilmington, Philadelphia, Augusta, Boca, and Boston were all called out as high-performing markets. Consumer services was Beasley’s number one category in the quarter, followed by retail (which was down), and automotive (which was up). What about Beasley’s digital revenue?

Despite going to Total Line Reporting on its PPM station streams, Beasley still saw a 19% increase in digital revenue for the quarter, compared to 2017. CEO Caroline Beasley said the company took in $4 million in digital revenue in the quarter and digital now makes up 6.5% of the company’s revenue.

Q3 is pacing up mid-single digits according to Beasley and she says the company still has plans to grow and will do so using a strategic and disciplined approach.

And finally, now that sports betting is becoming legal, that’s clearly good news for radio. Beasley said the company has already seen advertising placed in New Jersey, the first state to make sports betting legal and the company is also getting inquires in Philadelphia. She expects the new law to benefit the Boston market as well.
