Lexington Personality Shannon Retiring

Karl Shannon is the morning show host on WLXO Hank 96.1. He has been a fixture in Lexington radio since 1988. The five-time nominee for CMA Air Personality of the Year landed in Lexington in 1988 to program WVLK-FM “K-93.” He is the only air personality to have been rated number one on two different stations in Lexington, K-93 and WBUL-FM. During his nearly 47-year career, Shannon has had stops at legendary stations such as WSM in Nashville, WAKY, WHAS, WLKO and WINN in Louisville, WAYS in Charlotte, NC, WONE in Dayton, OH, and WBIR-fm in Knoxville. Shannon started his radio career in 1972 at WSAC in Fort Knox.  

Also noted for his charity work, Shannon has been nominated for the Country Radio Disc Jockey Hall of Fame. During football and basketball season, he can be heard on nearly 40 major colleges’ radio networks From New York to Los Angeles.
