Karen Altieri has been named the new Director of Development at 88.7 WMVY-FM/Martha’s Vineyard, MA. The listener- and local business-supported station also serves much of Cape Cod, MA, and Newport, RI. Altieri will focus on fundraising for the non-profit station via major donors and grant opportunities. Prior to joining WMVY, Altieri was a successful Account Manager for the Vineyard Gazette for 11 years. She has also been involved with numerous Vineyard non-profits including Island Affordable Housing, American Red Cross, and Hospice.
“On our very deliberate path in an evolution from a for-profit company to a non-profit company, we went through a careful process of finding the right person to take on this role full time,” said PJ Finn, Interim Executive Director at Friends of mvyradio. “Karen has the perfect mix of a successful sales background, vast Island knowledge, and a love of what WMVY means to this community.”
From the time WMVY left reel-to-reel automation in ’83, to become Album Radio 92-7, the station has been essential to the community, Cape & Islands. Congrats on the local mantra.
