WTOP’s national security correspondent J.J. Green has won the 31st Annual Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense. The $5,000 award recognizes journalists whose high standards for accuracy and substance help foster a better public understanding of national defense. Green was honored for his exclusive multi-media series Anatomy of a Russian Attack which engaged a wide range of national experts and leaders as they explored Russia’s cyber interference during the 2016 Presidential Election.

“I’m humbled to personally have received this award, because the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation has recognized many journalists before me for their reportorial excellence,” Green said. “I’m proud to be included among them. I’m also honored to work at a place like WTOP, which has created, encouraged, and invested in this unique environment where a local radio station can cover national security and compete on a national stage.

Each year, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation awards two distinguished journalism prizes, one for reporting on the Presidency and the other for reporting on National Defense.
