The University of Oregon and Entercom’s 1080 The Fan (KFXX-AM) in Portland have signed a four-year broadcast deal through the 2022 season. The partnership includes play-by-play of the university’s football, basketball, and baseball games. Alpha Media had been carrying Ducks games in that market.

In an Entercom press release, Market Manager Bill Ashenden said, “As the top radio destination for local sports fans, we are thrilled to welcome the Oregon Ducks to the Entercom Portland family. Entercom is the leader in local audio sports rights across the nation and we value this partnership with the University of Oregon. We look forward to bringing fans comprehensive coverage of the Ducks via all of our platforms.”

In a separate Alpha Media press release, Alpha Media CEO Bob Proffitt said, “As sad as we are to see the Ducks leave KXTG, we absolutely wish them, the entire Oregon athletic department, and our friends at IMG the best. It’s the end of an era. Being headquartered in Portland makes this decision full of mixed emotions but we are excited to continue to carry great programming on KXTG 102.9/750 The Game.” And Alpha Market Manager Lisa Decker added, “We’ve had a great relationship with IMG and the University of Oregon Ducks and we wish them the very best. For us this was a tough decision based on sports rights economics. We remain Ducks fans, and of course are proud to be Portland’s home of the Portland Timbers, the Seattle Mariners, NFL, and NCAA college basketball.”
