KGY/KAYO Heading Back To The Family

On Tuesday, InTown Media announced the termination of its management agreement with KGY/KAYO in Olympia, WA. The agreement will come to an end on May 1. Nick Kerry, fourth-generation owner of the stations, will assume the General Management of the stations on May 2. Kerry has been Business Manager for the past five years.

“I think we’ve accomplished what we came to do with these stations,” according to Jackson Dell Weaver, Managing Partner of InTown. “It’s now time to turn the management over to a local family member. Nick Kerry will continue to build on all we’ve created.” He added, “KGY/KAYO has been owned by the same family since 1939 and we were brought in to stabilize the stations and prepare them for continued family management into the future.”

Since taking over the management, InTown sold off the long-standing AM station (KGY/1240), moved the Classic Hits format to an FM translator, and relaunched KAYO (KYYO) 96.9 as the South Puget Sound’s leading Country station. Sales have more than doubled and a great team is in place.
