Spanish-language broadcaster LBI Media has announced a new multi-year agreement to carry Astros games on La Ranchera Deportes 850 AM and 101.7 FM. The stations will broadcast all 162 regular season games. This marks the first time that Astros games will be broadcast in Spanish on both an AM and FM station, simultaneously. Returning to call the action on the air will be the broadcast team of Francisco Romero (play-by-play) and Alex Trevino (color). The 2018 season will be the 11th calling Astros games for Romero and the 23rd for Trevino, the former Astros catcher who spent 13 seasons in the Major Leagues overall. Popular Astros icon Jose Cruz will also make frequent appearances in the broadcast booth as in past seasons.

“Our partnership with LBI Media is a big win for the Astros and for our many Spanish-speaking fans,” said Astros President of Business Operations Reid Ryan. “Opening Day for the 2018 season is just around the corner and we are looking forward to hearing the Astros Spanish radio broadcast on its new AM and FM dials.”

“LBI Media is excited to be the new home and partner of the World Champion Houston Astros on Spanish radio,” said Winter Horton, COO, LBI Media, Inc. “All of the Astros action will be available to listeners on both AM and FM, ensuring Spanish speaking Astros fans of Houston will hear every game all season long.”
