Former Houston broadcast personality Dayna Steele has won the Texas 36th Congressional District Democratic Primary, garnering an impressive 72% of the votes cast. The successful businesswoman, best-selling author, speaker, and former KLOL-FM announcer will now face a Republican incumbent in the fall elections.

Steele was endorsed by the Houston Chronicle and former Houston mayor Annise Parker.  She also earned the support of Texas AFL-CIO COPE, Our Revolution Harris County, the Houston GLBT Caucus, the Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation, Howie’s Klein’s Blue America, and the Sabine Area Central Labor Council, among others.
