Chad Patterson, local playwright, educator, and radio play-by-play voice of Grayling High School football and basketball, has been honored as Grayling’s Citizen of the Year 2017 by the Grayling Regional Chamber of Commerce. Patterson was presented with the award at the Chamber’s annual gathering Friday, March 2, at Kirtland Community College. A para-pro who works with autistic students at Grayling High School, Patterson serves as creative director and resident playwright of Acting Up Theatre Company. He is finishing his first season calling Grayling football and basketball games heard on Blarney Stone Broadcasting’s Q100.3 (WQON-FM/Grayling, MI).

“We are proud and honored to have Chad as part of our radio team, and we join our entire community in congratulating him on this special honor that he so richly deserves,” said Blarney Stone Broadcasting President Sheryl Coyne – who won the award last year. “Chad had some big shoes to fill when he stepped into the Q100 booth, but he immediately took our broadcasts to a new level, raising the bar even higher for our listeners who have come to expect a level of professionalism when they tune in to our games.”
