The 20th annual Have-A-Heart Wishathon, hosted by Saga Communications’ Jonesboro Radio Group (KDXY, KEGI, KJBX) and Raycom Media’s KAIT-TV (ABC/NBC), raised $421,843. It was the largest total in the event’s 20-year history, and brought the total amount of money raised over that period to $5,108,843.
“Christie Matthews brought the idea of a Make-A-Wish fundraiser to us in 1999,” said Trey Stafford, Jonesboro Radio Group President/General Manager. “We’ve made Make-A-Wish a household word in this region.”
The Make A Wish organization grants wishes to children with critical illnesses. The average wish costs about $8,000. For information, visit www.wish.org.
