SUPERSTAR SPOTLIGHT – Jeff Salvano – AE Entercom Phoenix

On the heels of our advertiser success story with Kelly’s Kawasaki, we thought this would also be a great opportunity to highlight the seller behind the sale. Jeff Salvano was born and raised in Montville, New Jersey. He started his radio career only five years ago. “I learned sales as a young kid growing up in Jersey, working side by side with my father who owns and operates a successful HVAC company in North Jersey. He taught me how to work hard, be honest, and to never cut corners.”

To this day, Jeff admires the trust and respect his father’s customers have for him. “Not only his customers but anyone who meets or knows my Dad. Whether he’s at a supply house, a customer’s home, a family party, or a pizzeria, everyone wants to be his best friend.”

The best advice Jeff received early on in his career? “It was from closest co-worker, former market manager, and life-mentor Allen Stieglitz: Be able to adapt. If you were blindfolded, tied up, flown to an unfamiliar location, and just left there to fend for yourself, would you be able to figure out the rules of the game and, most importantly, win?”

Jeff quickly grew into the top sales executive within his organization. He was the top sales executive two years in a row (2016 & 2017), CBS Radio Phoenix Sales Executive of the Year in 2016, and Entercom Phoenix Sales Executive of the Year in 2017.

Jeff’s philosophy on selling successfully… “Do what you say you’re going to do, and most importantly: listen. Find out what your client NEEDS or WANTS, and then figure out how to make it happen. Be resourceful. I certainly don’t know everything, but I do know a lot of people who know something. So be smart, seek them out and get the help you’re looking for. There’s a lot of creative and imaginative minds in our radio buildings — use them. Constantly look for ways to bring value to your client. They’ll call on you for advice, and you’ll quickly become their go-to marketing liaison.”
