Entercom Apologizes, Suspends WEEI Host

Alex Reimer has been suspended by WEEI-FM in Boston after he called New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s daughter “an annoying little pissant.” Brady’s daughter is 5 years old. During his Monday morning appearance on Kirk & Callahan, Brady cut his interview short after about two minutes. He said he was disappointed with the comments Reimer made last Thursday night.

Brady went on to say, “I’ve tried to come on this show for many years and showed you guys a lot of respect. I’ve always tried to come on and do a good job for you guys. It’s very disappointing when you hear that, certainly. My daughter, or any child, they certainly don’t deserve that. I really don’t have much to say about it this morning.”

Reimer was informed last Friday he was being handed an indefinite suspension by WEEI, effective immediately. He made the remark while commenting on the Tom vs. Time documentary.

In a statement late Monday night, Entercom Market Manager Mark Hannon said, “We are disappointed and embarrassed by Alex Reimer’s on-air comments made last Thursday evening. His remarks were utterly indefensible, and mean-spirited commentary directed in any way at children is wholly inappropriate. Mr. Reimer remains suspended indefinitely from all WEEI platforms. We deeply regret what happened and offer our sincerest apologies to Tom Brady, his daughter and his family, as well as the New England Patriots organization. Mr. Brady has been a long time contributor to WEEI throughout his Patriots career, and he has treated us with the utmost professionalism and respect throughout the partnership. We have communicated our course of action to the Patriots and Tom Brady, and they are in support of our disciplinary response.”

It is unclear if Brady will continue to contribute to WEEI after this incident but he doesn’t want Riemer to get fired. During a press conference Monday, Brady said, “I think, you know, we all have careers and we all make mistakes and I mean, I’d hate for someone to have to change their life over something like that It’s certainly not what he intended.”

Riemer is a full-time columnist at WEEI.com and also appears regularly (once or twice weekly) on the Kirk & Callahan Morning Show. He also has an occasional weekend airshift.

It was just last week that WEEI-FM announced a new agreement that includes interviews with Patriot players every Monday and Friday. Part of that agreement is the interview with Brady, which may now be in jeopardy.

  1. From here:
Of all the things to worry about in them thar Excited States of America, I would expect a rude, radio commentator would not be one of them – so long as he isn’t also playing grab-ass in the hallways.
Now, THAT would be so severely wrong, and get the guy dangling from the end of the rope.

    • Do you know what it is Ronald? We have it too good in this country and need something to wake us up. As Teddy Roosevelt said – Americans learn only from Catastrophe not experience.
Heaven for-fend a jock do his job and cut through the clutter. But as I said, most radio people don’t have any clue what we do for a living. They think Leave it to Beaver in a Game of Thrones World.
The Reality Show Con Artist was never running for President; he was running for ATTENTION and was only in it for money and vanity but his “poorly educated voters” actually bought his shtick and gave him a job he doesn’t want. He would be much happier bilking them out of money with his own TV Network.
The guy below actually thinks the Manchurian Candidate is a real person with an “agenda” other than himself and we are talking about “policies” and “parties”. But he has counted on Americans being Sh*t eating dumb a**es and there goes your proof.

  2. “fire this little weasel”
“saying something he thinks is shocking and outrageous enough to attract attention.”
Thanks to the posters above for being the morality police in a country that elected a Reality Show Con Artist President (who has insulted women, Mexicans, Haitians, the FBI, etc. and was elected largely because he attracted ATTENTION) and made a family that created and distributed a sex tape multi-millionaires.
It only proves that many people in Radio have absolutely no idea of what we do for a living. The fault is not in the stars but in ourselves.

    • Thanks to the above for trying to bring a political moral equivalency into the discussion. In effect, you’re saying because of the current President, we shouldn’t call out bad behavior? Thanks for that clarification.

    • Mr Snowflake.Did you come out of your safe crying room just to post that ? Wow some Democrats just show how uneducated they really are

  3. This is another talentless total loser, trying to make a name for himself by saying something he thinks is shocking and outrageous enough to attract attention. Fire this clown. Period, end of story.
