Late Friday Spanish Broadcasting System sent out a press release announcing the company had reached an agreement with Grupo Radio Centro. SBS accused Grupo of hiring Martin Romero Hernandez (El Ratón) who left KLAX Los Angeles in January 2016 to join GRC’s “Radio Centro 93.9” KXOS. SBS said Hernandez to breached his non-compete contract.

SBS filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit in February 2016.

SBS did not detail the settlement, stating its protected by a confidentiality provision. It was reached in advance of a trial that was set to start soon. “The settlement resolves all pending legal proceedings between the parties.” SBS General Counsel Richard Lara said, “We are extremely pleased to have amicably resolved the matter. As has always been its practice, SBS will not hesitate to take legal action when necessary to defend its contractual rights and business interests.”

SBS owns and operates Hispanic-formatted KLAX-FM and KXOL-FM in the Los Angeles market.
