Entercom’s KYW-AM Newsradio 1060/Philadelphia joined with Comcast to deliver 10 new Dell Latitude Education Series laptops to General Philip Kearny Elementary School. At a series of events promoting “Internet Essentials from Comcast,” KYW offered its listeners the opportunity to win a laptop computer and nominate a school or a not-for-profit educational organization in the Delaware Valley to receive 10 new laptops. A Philadelphia resident took home a new laptop for himself and nominated General Philip Kearny Elementary School for the 10 laptops.

“Entercom is committed to enriching the lives of local residents. KYW Newsradio’s partnership with Comcast allows us to support local community organizations like General Philip Kearny Elementary School in their commitment to education,” said Steve Butler, Entercom’s Director of News and Programming at KYW Newsradio.

About 30 percent of Americans—many living below the poverty line— do not have Internet access at home. Research consistently shows that the barriers to broadband adoption involve a complex mix of low digital literacy, perceived lack of relevance of online content, and the need for low-cost, good-quality computers and Internet service. Internet Essentials is intended to address these hurdles. For more information about Internet Essentials, call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376) or visit www.internetessentials.com
