In a press release following the Entercom/CBS merger approval by the FCC, Entercom CEO David Field says the company is energized and excited by the announcement from the FCC. “The Commission’s approval marks a significant milestone on our path toward completing the transformational combination of Entercom and CBS Radio. This brings Entercom an important step closer to our goal of delivering greater value for our listeners, customers, and shareholders as a leading media and entertainment company with national scale and the No. 1 creator of live, original and local audio content.” The merger is expected to be complete as early as next Friday. Entercom is holding a special shareholder meeting to approve the deal on Wednesday.

Apparently the Entercom/CBS lobby arm of the NAB was able to suppress the WFAN Payola/Sponsorship violations allowing for this combination. However, it will be unable to stop the NYC Civil Claims Court (Index No. 2447 NSC 2017 on for 11/20/17) from hearing how WFAN perpetrated fraud on the audience of its nationally syndicated Boomer & Carton show in the summer of 2014. Nor will it stop the floodgates of litigation to which Entercom has now been exposed. Any of the scores of individuals personally named in the scandalous never vetted self published book Sid Rosenberg thrice promoted on WFAN has a potential libel and/or invasion of privacy action. Caveat Emptercom! Your shareholders have been Polarized! CVA! Kevin DeBlasi, Esq.
Commission needs to explain how it can allow the transfer of WFAN’s license when it so blatantly violated its Sponsorship rules defrauding the public and calling into question the whole talk radio format in August 2014.
