CBS Radio has some of the most recognizable radio brands in the country and Entercom CEO David Field says they’ve been neglected — and he intends to change that. “These assets have been on the shelf as CBS Radio looked for a buyer,” according to Field. “This is a wonderful company, CBS Radio has tremendous people.”
One of the examples Field gave regarding stations being neglected was research. “They did not do enough so a number of brands were running blind.”
Field was even asked about the opening on the WFAN morning show after Craig Carton resigned in disgrace, after being arrested for allegedly being part of a Ponzi scheme to help pay off millions in gambling debts. Field said that situation is being handled by the capable programming people at CBS and WFAN. “That’s a pretty good gig. There’s a lot of people around the country that would love that position. It’s a plumb job.”
