Entercom New Orleans launched The Newell Normand Show on WWL FM/AM Monday afternoon. The 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. show is hosted by the former Jefferson Parish sheriff Newell Normand.

Market Manager Chris Wegman said, “Today marks a historic day for WWL. Newell commands the respect needed to host middays on WWL. He was a popular and powerful leader in politics who wants to continue to be a positive influence on our community. We have every belief that Newell will be an opinion leader, and his legacy of excellence will grow on the most powerful station in the Gulf South.”

Normand said, “I’m very excited and I have to admit, I am a little nervous. It’s a truly humbling experience to sit behind the WWL mic. I have such reverence for the station, what it means to our community, and its reputation as one of America’s super brands. On my first day, I really feel like I’m part of the team here at WWL radio. I feel very comfortable and everybody has been nothing but supportive and welcoming.”

“We’ve never experienced such overwhelming excitement about a new host,” added Diane Newman, Operations and Program Director, WWL. “Newell Normand will be the people’s voice, a truth detector and a difference maker; an agent of change at a time when everybody’s yearning for just that.”
