WFAN’s Craig Carton Arrested For Ticket Scam

The alleged concert-ticket scam involved ripping off investors to the tune of millions of dollars, and Carton (at left in photo) has been charged for his alleged involvement. It is believed that the sports show host was using the money to pay off huge gambling debts.

The Boomer and Carton co-host and his partner Joseph Meli are said to have run a Ponzi-type scheme that took the investors for $3.6 million. Carton, 48, allegedly misappropriated another $2 million from one of the investors.

The complaint reads: “Carton falsely claimed to investors that he — sometimes on his own and sometimes through Meli —had access to millions of dollars’ worth of concert tickets at face value.”

Authorities are in possession of damning emails and texts in which Carton explicitly conveys his involvement. It’s believed he became involved in the scam in mid-2016.

The father of four was arrested at his Manhattan home by FBI agents on Wednesday morning.

Carton’s arrest is part of an ongoing probe of alleged fraud in the ticket-resell industry.

Radio Ink reached out to CBS radio and received the following statement: “We are aware of the situation and are cooperating with authorities.”
