Sports Illustrated, citing staffers at ESPN, says the radio host who was arrested for being drunk and wandering into someone’s condo, will likely be suspended but not fired. SI says Russillo has supporters in upper management, including ESPN executive VP of content Connor Schell, and his contract is also not immediately up. SI also reports that an ESPN colleague close to Russillo predicts that if Russillo is given a chance on the air, he would be fully transparent about what happened in Jackson.
Russillo was caught by the Wyoming condo owners who did not know who he was. Police say he was drunk, could coherently answer questions and had his pants down around his ankles. He was arrested and has a court date set for next month. The official word from ESPN is that they are looking into the matter.
