That’s actually Portland’s 98.7 The Bull (KUPL) which went live on Facebook at
the Humane Society for Southwest Washington and ended up reuniting Ronald The Mastiff – who had been at the Humane Society for a while – with his former owner. How? The Bull’s Tony, McKinzie, and Jake captured Ronald on Facebook Live which reached a woman who recognized him. She then contacted her step-father, David, and sent him the video. Years ago, David had a medical emergency, and was unable to take care of his dog, Buddy. He and Buddy had gone through some very tough times together, and it broke his heart, but he gave the dog to some friends for care. Unfortunately, Buddy ran away. He was picked up by the Humane Society and never claimed.
He then bounced around to a couple homes that really weren’t a good fit, and ended up back at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. David went to the shelter, and immediately upon seeing him, “Ronald” went crazy, jumping around, wagging his tail, and acting happier than the staff had ever seen.
Jake commented on the reunion, “Every day in this business, we are blessed with the power to help people, but when it happens in such a heart-warming and tear-jerking way, it makes us so proud to do what we do. We could never do it without the wonderful community of people who listen to us.”
