Houston Radio Host Matt Patrick Passes

Chron.com reports that the popular conservative host passed away Sunday, July 9, after announcing on air the previous Wednesday, as we reported, that he would no longer have treatment for the aggressive cancer he’d been fighting for two years. He was 58.

Michael “Matt” Patrick Ryan was known for his positive attitude and spirited debates on everything from President Donald Trump’s campaign to how the Super Bowl affected homelessness in the Bayou City.

Before he was a staple of morning commutes on KTRH in Houston, he spent nearly three decades at WKDD/Akron doing a morning radio show after starting as a DJ at 22 in 1980. He launched The Matt Patrick Show in 2008 on a different Akron station, and he took the program to Cincinnati and Cleveland stations before moving to Houston six years ago with his family.

All of us at Radio Ink extend our sincere condolences to Matt’s family, friends, and colleagues.
