Harry Harrison’s Son Passes

13

The son of Harry Harrison, who was known as New York Radio’s Morning Mayor during his years at WMCA, WABC, and WCBS-FM, died suddenly June 30. Michael Harrison was 53.

Harry’s daughter Patti said, “Our family, today, is truly devastated and brokenhearted by the sudden death of my brother Michael Harrison. Only 53, and a very talented carpenter, passionate golfer, and animal lover, he lived in Palm Coast, Florida, and has come home to New Jersey this week. No words can describe losing another brother, and Dad, another son. Mom and BJ are with Michael now. This I believe, however, the pain is crippling. Prayers are appreciated!”

Arrangements have been made at the Pizzi Funeral Home 120 Paris Avenue in Northvale, NJ 07647. Family and friends will be received Friday the 7th, 4 p.m. till 8 p.m., and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 199 Walnut Street, Northvale, NJ 07647 on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. Cards and expressions of sympathy can be sent to Harry Harrison, his daughter Patti, and surviving son Patrick via the Pizzi Funeral Home address.

  1. Harrison family, no one deserves to go thru this devastating time, especially you guys. For what you gave us all those years, I wished and imagined so much better for you all. In time we’ll all be together again and I very much believe that, until then thank you Patti & Patrick for comforting pop. We all love him and that’s from my heart.

  3. To the Harrison family, my husband and I met Michael back around 2004. We have been thinking about him and I thought I would look him up so we could reach out to him and say hello and see how he was doing. Michael was such a bright, witty, enthusiastic young man and we had enjoyed his company.
Our heartfelt sympathy to learn of Michael’s passing.

  4. I just saw this and am truly heartbroken for your loss. Back in 1987 Michael was our wedding photographer and did an outstanding job. We lost track of him afterward and I am very sorry that he has passed on. May God be with you and your family, as with Mike

  6. Harry: I just now happen to read about your son Michael, I’m so very sorry to hear this news. He was such a handsome man with a beautiful smile. I think you remember me, we used to write to each other quite frequently and I always went to see your shows at the World Trade Center. I’m the woman who moved to Florida. I think now you remember me. I tried to contact you but did not know how to reach you. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your son, just remember, he is gone but will forever remain in your heart. I very much miss your radio station and you, you made my day fulfilled every day with love and kindness. At least I have all those memories to keep me going when I get sad. I still have all your letters and gifts to keep my heart going. With love to you and your family. Arlene LaBella

  7. Sorry to hear this. I met Michael in the 90’s when he was doing live concert photography. I also met Patti one day on the Connecticut Turnpike in the 80’s. She was driving a blue Nissan Pulsar NX. Grew up listening to Harry on both WMCA and WABC in the morning
