Stern Being Sued For Airing IRS Call

2

The Hollywood Reporter has the details about the lawsuit filed by Judith Barrigas. She says she called the IRS on May 19, 2015 to discuss how the tax agency had applied prior year liabilities to her tax refund.

Before she was connected to IRS agent Jimmy Forsythe, the agent had called into Stern’s show using another phone line. While on hold, Forsythe took Barrigas’ call and spoke to her for nearly an hour about her issue. Someone at Stern’s show apparently heard the call and aired it live.

Barrigas started to receive a ton of phone calls while on the phone with the IRS. The callers were telling her personal information and phone number were going out live on Stern’s show. Barrigas claims the “outrageous violation” of her privacy has resulted in difficulty finding employment, anxiety, loss of sleep and irregular eating patterns.

  1. The previous comment from Mark illustrates that he is not a Stern listener and doesn’t know anything about the show.

It sounds like Ms. Barrigas is looking for a Pay Day. She really should be suing the IRS, not Stern, for her privacy violation. After all it was the IRS agent who took the call that did not protect the privacy of their call.

  2. Stern is an overrated, pretty damn boring radio personality. The sad thing is he is intelligent, and could be doing something productive other than having women flash their tits to men with no sex life, and more damaging behavior like that mentioned in this article. It makes you wonder about SOME people’s intelligence when Stern, Limbaugh, Hannity, and Don “Better than Sleeping Pills” Imus are popular. A once exciting industry — that knew when and how to be cleverly irreverent — is going down the pipe.
