Atlanta Sports Talkers Look Back On What Should Have Been

Rodney Ho of The Atlanta Journal Constitution spoke to many of the local sports talkers in Atlanta, who, for about 3 quarters of the Superbowl thought they would be celebrating a victory for their home team. 680/The Fan host Matt Chernoff told Ho he wept like a child “The pain is real and it’s going to hurt for a long time. My heart hurts for Atlanta sports fans,” CHernoff added.

Chernoff’s co-host Chuck Oliver said it was “the worst sports moment this city has ever had, ever.”

92.9 The Game host John Michaels told Ho he fell to his knees and cried when the Patriots won. “It was a surreal vision to see New England’s players running up and down the field, confetti flying everywhere, a stunned look on all our guys as we walked into the locker room.”

Here’s more on how Atlanta hosts reacted to the loss.

  1. The Flames leaving Atlanta was a loss. The Flames coming to Calgary was our win. 🙂
My wife’s family are ALL genetically imposed Packer fans. We met at our place for food, booze and celebrations when they played the Falcons.
    A very tough evening followed.
At least the Pack was thrashed soundly – no justifications were allowed.
Super Bowl LI – that was supernatural.
(Accepting a few strange reports, there is still, however, no compelling evidence that God was, in any way, involved.)
