Pai To Be Nominated To Chair The FCC

Pai is a great friend of the radio industry, so this will be very positive news to radio executives all across the country. Pai, a Republican, will initially lead an FCC with a 2-to-1 Republican majority. The President can name a Republican and another person to fill the two open seats with nominees who will need Senate approval.

NAB CEO Gordon Smith issued the following statement after hearing the news that Commissioner Ajit Pai would be nominated to chair the FCC. “Without qualification, NAB supports President Trump’s selection of Ajit Pai to the position of FCC chairman. Ajit Pai is a known quantity who brings integrity, good humor, and a fierce intellect to the Commission. We look forward to working with him and his colleagues on a pro-growth FCC agenda that benefits tens of millions of Americans who rely on free broadcast radio and TV for the most popular content, credible news, and lifeline local emergency alerts.”

Pai’s proposed reforms to the AM band were adopted in 2015 in an order that, among other things, added two AM-only windows regarding FM translators, with the first (Jan. 29-July 28, 2016) giving AMs more flexibility to move translators they’ve purchased, and the second (July 29-Oct. 31, 2016) giving AMs without translators an exclusive opportunity to apply.

Pai earlier in his career was an attorney for Verizon but has been in DC since 2004, starting as deputy chief counsel for Sen. Jeff Sessions, chair of the Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Court. He later served as an FCC attorney and, after a term at the DC law firm Jenner & Block, was nominated to the FCC by President Obama.

  1. Public voice needs to be educated. Outsourced means getting it done from a different country.

These are Americans of Indian origin. They are as American as you are and they contribute to American society and pay taxes here

  2. Forget about Internet as we now know it will be gone by Pai and Trump.

This guy will be yes, yes, yes to everyone, hire more Indians, get contractors that are from Indians companies.

Indian just got stronger to the US infrastructures to outsource jobs to Indians, from Governor, Department of Justice , Surgeon General
