Beasley is making a format change at WBRN in Tampa, and Bubba The Love Sponge is not in their plans for that station. The station is now stunting with Holiday music and sent out the following statement about Bubba.
“Beasley Media Group has decided to make a format adjustment on WBRN-FM in Tampa, Florida. As a result of this decision, the Bubba the Love Sponge Show will no longer be carried by Beasley in the Tampa, Florida market. Beasley looks forward to continuing its relationship with Bubba and the Bubba the Love Sponge Show on WRXK/96K-ROCK in Ft. Myers, Florida.” The station is currently playing Christmas music.
Bubba is in the middle of a court case with Nielsen. The ratings firm has sued the host for ratings tampering and is seeking $1 million in damages. Both sides have asked the judge to assign the case to a mediator. The two sides tried mediation earlier this year but it failed.
