Cubs Bring Big Numbers To WSCR

1

It was the first World Series win for the Chicago Cubs since 1908, and that resulted in huge listening numbers for WSCR in its first year carrying the games. PD Mitch Rosen tells Radio Ink that on November 2, over 1 million people listened to WSCR throughout the day, including the extra inning Game 7. “There were times in Game 7 that half of all Chicago radio listeners were tuned into The Score to hear the home town call of Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer.”

Rosen said, “What an amazing first year it’s been for WSCR as the radio home of Chicago Cubs games. To experience the World Series on this station as we approach our 25th Anniversary makes this even more momentous. When The Score first launched, the station was a day-time only frequency, now the same brand is the home of the World Champion Chicago Cubs.”

  1. And to think that before WGN let go of Jimmy DeCastro, he decided to not keep the Cubs on WGN…Another example or just horrible horrible management and decision-making that helped to kill yet another once-legacy radio station.
