The Fredericksburg, Virginia, Hot AC WBQB (B101.5) raised the titanic sum while broadcasting the 3rd Annual Care-athon to benefit Children’s National Health System on November 3 and 4. The two-day, 28-hour event was broadcast live from the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Listeners and sponsors contributed $118,386.50, a 31% increase over last year’s $90,301.90 total. The money will go directly to Children’s National to support ongoing medical research and assure no child will ever be turned away for care regardless of ability to pay.

“It’s no small feat to suspend regular programming and send our key air personalities and engineering staff to Children’s National for two full days,” said Mark Bass, Fredericksburg Market Manager for Centennial Broadcasting. “However, we feel it’s critical Children’s continues their commitment to quality care, research, and support to families, many from our listening area.”

Erin Stoker, Associate Director of Corporate Sponsorships for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, said, “On behalf of Children’s National Health System, we are grateful to B101.5 for leading the Care-athon and inspiring their listeners and local community to generously support children and families in Fredericksburg and across the Washington, D.C., region.  Because of these critical donations, we are able to develop therapies, improve treatments, find cures, and care for every child in need, regardless of their ability to pay.”
