The veteran jock and TV personality will be honored by the Museum of North Texas, which is making him its second North Texas Legend, reports the Times Record News. White was at KWFT for 26 years before leaving for KGTM radio, followed by KAUZ TV for 5 years, NewsTalk AM 1290, and, since this summer he has been on the Texoma Country Morning show, 5-5:30 a.m. and 7:30-8 a.m. weekdays.

“We started the award last year to honor people in the area who have made a positive and large impact on the area for a long period of time,” North Texas Legends executive committee member Kenny Mayo said. Mayo sent White’s name to the museum board, which approved it.

White has been a positive influence on several area groups, including the North Texas Field & Stream Board, Maskat Shrine Clowns (“Big Tom”), and producing the Texas-Oklahoma Fair and Wichita Falls Gun & Knife shows. Other volunteer activities include the Mavericks, Camp Fire, Boy Scouts, the United Way, Kiwanis, Club Gold Coat Ambassadors, and the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum.

A dinner in White’s honor will be held Tuesday at the museum, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
