Michael Czarnecki has been elevated to PD at Entercom’s WRKO in Boston. For the last 15 months, Czarnecki has been the APD and Ops Manager of the news talker. Prior to joining WRKO, Czarnecki was APD at iHeart Media’s WHYN-FM and WRNX-FM in Springfield, MA. He’s also held on-air and programming positions in Boston, Hartford, Medford, OR, and Manchester, NH. There has not been a PD at WRKO in three years.
Entercom Boston VP/Market Manager Phil Zachary said the timing isn’t coincidental. “Michael tweaked the station’s lineup and groomed our entire air staff to be at peak performance for this election cycle,” he said. “We’re now reaping the benefits of his coaching and vision as new cume flocks to WRKO every day. This promotion is well deserved and overdue.”
Czarnecki grew up in Connecticut and has spent most of his career in and around the Boston area. He says leading WRKO in this unique political moment is a privilege. “I’m absolutely thrilled,” he remarked. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to be a part of revitalizing the heritage brand that is WRKO, and this is just the beginning. Czarnecki’s promotion is effective immediately.
