It’s a great program that helps the most vulnerable members of society: children. Now in its fourth year, Mix 106 and the Idaho Foodbank will partner together for the radiothon to help kids in the Treasure Valley who are food insecure. While many low-income kids benefit from school breakfast and lunch programs, weekends are another matter. Every Friday, Backpack Buddies sees each participating child receive a backpack with enough food for two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and two snacks of nutritious, child-friendly items that are easy to prepare and taste good. On Thursday, August 18 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mix 106 will broadcast live in an effort to raise money to fund as many backpacks as possible.
Members of the public can sponsor a backpack for a child in need for as little as $25 a month for a calendar year. Donations can be made by calling the Mix 106 donation line at 208-275-8806 during the radiothon, in person at the Mix 106 Studio at 827 E Park Blvd, Suite 100, Boise, or by logging on to www.Mix106Radio.com and clicking on the “Backpack Buddy” link at the top of the site to donate.
