When WQYK morning man Dave McKay didn’t show up for work Thursday morning a co-worker went to check on him and found him dead. Police do not suspect foul play. McKay, whose real name is Steve Ehmke, had been with WQYK since 1992. He lived in his apartment by himself. He was part of the ‘Dave and Veronica’ show on the Beasley station.
Beasley corporate released the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our WQYK Morning Host Dave McKay. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fans. Our hearts are heavy within the Beasley Media Group during this extremely difficult time. Dave, we will miss you.”
