It all started August 1, 1988, in New York City. Rush told his audience yesterday that he feels blessed to be able to accomplish his lifelong dream, to be a star on the radio. “I mean, I wanted to be on the radio from age 8. And not only have I been blessed to be able to do it, but I truly have been blessed by having people like you as the audience.”
Rush said it was his audience that made it all possible, made it all happen, and he’s aware of that every day. “Even after 28 years — and I mentioned this in relation to something else, even last week or the week before. I go home every day after this program, and I would say four out of five days I’d go home troubled to one degree or another that it wasn’t as good as it could have been. I go home sometimes feeling guilty that I had some really good stuff and didn’t get to it just because of the way things fell out in the day.”
Rush went on to thank the listeners, acknowledging the relevance of the audience for what his show has become. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart each and every day, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart each and every night, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart each and every morning when I am sitting here getting ready for this.”
