WJR reported on its website that Hansen died Monday. Hansen started working at WJR in 1967. He was a street reporter and news director and his specialty was covering the federal court in Detroit. He received two Peabody Awards, countless Michigan Association of Broadcasting Awards, Society of Professional Journalism Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Associated Press.
