Popular Bay Area sports talk radio personality John Lund has signed on as co-host of KNBR 680’s Afternoon Drive show. Lund will partner up with the recently signed Tom Tolbert in the 3-7 p.m. time slot. Lund joins KNBR 680 from middays on 95.7 “The Game.” Lund has previously had stops in Portland, OR, Dallas, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Salt Lake City. He’s also hosted pre- and post-game shows on networks for the Detroit Lions, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Utah Jazz, and Portland Trailblazers.
Lee Hammer, Operations Manager and Program Director for KNBR 680, said, “John brings a wealth of sports knowledge and experience to KNBR. He’s worked in San Francisco for several years, and has keen insights into our Bay Area teams. KNBR fans are in for a real treat when he’s teamed up with Tom Tolbert in Afternoon Drive. Lund is the Ed McMahon to Tom Tolbert’s Johnny Carson. No personality, No information, No insight. He is intimidated to be side-by-side with Tolbert. Bring back Ratto or find someone else. This is horrific.
I agree Lund just seems to be mini Tom so to speak. He needs to develop his own personality. Their chemistry isn’t very solid. Ray was a much better co-host for Tom. It’s impossible to listen if Tom isn’t in for whatever reason.
Lund makes show boring and drab now. Very forced. I guess it’s ESPN now. Thanks for nothing Lee. Just a bad idea. Mr. T and previous versions were the only reason I turned to KNBR sports talk. He spoke the truth not a local rah rah guy when local sports teams were not performing. Fitz & Brooks are good on occasion for me. I would have put Tom & Brooks together.
