Alpha Media’s WNGY Peoria’s Lucky The DJ ran 102 miles in 102 hours to generate awareness for child abuse. On Day 4 of his run the station received an email from the White House thanking them for their efforts.
On the last day of the race, listeners were encouraged to bring a donation to the “Paint Peoria Blue” party at Chik-fil-A. With any donation of a basic-needs supply, the listener was given a free Chik-fil-A chicken sandwich meal. All donations benefitted the Crittenton Centers. In the end, over $1200 worth of items such as diapers, wipes, formula, clothes, supplies, and more were collected. This will be able to help over 100 families.
Energy 102.3’s Lucky The DJ had the following to say about his journey: “The past week was crazy with a ton of different people who helped and showed up to support us. Even though the mileage is done the message doesn’t stop: It shouldn’t hurt to be a child. It’s up to us as a community to make sure that every child is safe.”
