KNBR afternoon driver Tom Tolbert has signed a new multi-year contract with the station. Tolbert has been with KNBR in San Francisco for 20 years, having started back in 1996. KNBR Ops Manager Lee Hammer said, “I’m excited to announce that with this new deal, Tom will continue to entertain Bay Area sports fans for many years to come. As a former NBA player, Tom is a member of a small club of former athletes who have enjoyed tremendous success as a sports radio talk show host.”
A standout at the University of Arizona, Tolbert helped lead the Wildcats to a trip to the 1988 Final Four. He was a second round pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA draft, and had stints with the Clippers, Hornets, and the Golden State Warriors. Tolbert is also the color announcer for all Warriors home games and has the fun job of interviewing Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who was Tolbert’s college teammate at Arizona. Tolbert said, “I’m incredibly fortunate to do what I do where I do it…Signing with KNBR for multiple years was a no-brainer.”
