Alpha Media, Bluefield, WV, announced that their market won multiple awards at the West Virginia Broadcasters Association “Excellence in Broadcasting Awards.” WHIS was awarded the highest honor of the night, “Legendary Station of the Year,” along with “Best Talk Show” for Radio Active hosted by Craig Hammond. Bluefield’s Dan Acquire won the “Best Sportscast” award for 2016.
Alpha Media Market Manager, Danny Clemons commented on the announcement, “Over the last 13 years our group of Bluefield stations have won numerous awards. I am very proud of every award, however WHIS winning the 2016 WVBA Legendary Station of the Year award is the one I am the proudest of. WHIS first went on air in June of 1929 and is the rock solid foundation on which our cluster has been built.
