iHeartMedia Louisville announced Thursday that, after 18 years with NewsRadio 840 WHAS, Program Director Kelly Carls, will retire in August. Carls joined WHAS in April of 1998 as the Program Director. He then went on to work in various capacities for the company, including Operations Manager of the Louisville cluster, Regional Senior Vice-President of Programming, and National News / Talk Brand Manager. As a result of his commitment and passion, NewsRadio 840 WHAS continues to rank as one of the most listened-to news/talk radio brands in America.
“Kelly Carls has helped lead iHeartMedia Louisville through many successful years,” said Earl Jones, iHeartmedia’s Kentucky-Indiana Region President. “He has a keen understanding of the broadcast industry and has skillfully guided our stations through an ever-changing radio landscape. We will miss him tremendously, but wish him the best in his well-earned retirement.”
iHeartMedia Louisville will soon begin an active search for a Carls’ replacement.
