Moonves hates radio, and this has been evident for the past several years. This guy has given the entire AM-FM radio industry a black eye. The local press is bad mouthing broadcast radio in a very negative
way. Good riddance to Moonves and CBS. Bill Paley would have had some very appropriate comments
for Mr. Moonves.

Is this the very same destroyer of America’s native art form, Jazz, speaking?
Thank goodness the banks won’t lend Cumulus or iHeart a dime to capture some of these iconic stations. The question is, are there any companies out there that could buy all of them, or will it end-up with some possible market-only sales? I would hate to see heritage stations like WBZ, KDKA, WIP, WCBS, WBBM, WWJ, WFAN (WNBC), KNX, WINS, KMOX and WTIC lose their status by someone who doesn’t understand the historical importance of these stations. Time to buy a PowerBall ticket, but even that wouldn’t be enough to buy all of Market #1 stations owned by CBS/Infinity/Group W Westinghouse.
Lemme unnerstan’ this, Shel.
Huge outfits with enough debt to keep a fleet of nuclear submarines on the bottom are actually in line to take a run at the CBS assets…?
(I’m going to go hide under the covers until I get your response.)
We all know iFart or Ruinulus would love to flip these properties over really fast & convert them all into the country’s first Harbor Freight Tools 24-Hour Superstores [all of the facilities’ control rooms would be kept intact so a “valued associate” — a/k/a fired & re-hired air personalities — could announce the hourly Blue Light Specials] …
… or another “branding guru type” would work his “call letter magic” and change WCBS to “The Dweeb”, KCBS-FM to “Burpin’,” WBBM to “The Koala,” et. al.
Then again, Moonves & wife Julie Chen could form a shell corporation — Big Brother & The Holding Company — and buy the entire slate of stations outright. “Expect the unexpected!”
