Northwestern Athletics and WGN Radio AM-720 announced Friday that they have agreed on a four-year broadcast rights-holder extension. The agreement will keep Wildcats football and men’s basketball on the station through the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign. WGN Radio has been the radio home of the Wildcats since 1996.

“The Northwestern Wildcats and WGN Radio have forged a special relationship over the last two decades,” said Jim Phillips, Northwestern Vice President for Athletics & Recreation. “WGN not only is a broadcasting force, but a true Chicago institution. We have shared many thrilling moments through the years, and look forward to many more memories with WGN Radio as the home of Chicago’s Big Ten Team.”

WGN Radio also announced a new four-year contract for Dave Eanet, the voice of Wildcats football since 1990 and men’s basketball since 1996, WGN Radio Sports Director and a key personality on the Steve Cochran Show. Former Chicago Bear Ted Albrecht is the Wildcats football analyst on WGN Radio, while former college and professional head coach Joey Meyer provides analysis on basketball broadcasts.
