William “Bill” Burton Parris lll of Reisterstown passed away, surrounded by family, on the afternoon of February 2, 2016. Parris was an avid broadcaster who loved, lived, and breathed media. Locally he owned and operated Maryland stations 970 WAMD of Aberdeen, and 1460 WKHZ of Easton. Later in life, he took tremendous joy giving back to his community and serving as the Wing Commander for Maryland Civil Air Patrol, the United States Air Force Auxiliary. Feeling the calling after 9-11 to give back to his community, C.A.P. was a true passion.

Parris was named Billboard magazine’s Program Director of the Year in 1977, and worked as Executive Vice President of United Broadcasting Company and Cable for many years before forming his own multi-media firm.

Visitation will be held Friday February 5 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home in Reisterstown MD. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 6 at Maryland Wing Head Quarters, 3085 Hernwood Road Woodstock Maryland. A private burial service will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday February 17.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Colonel Bill Parris Solo School Scholarship fund to help future pilots follow in his footsteps. Checks should be made to the Maryland Wing Civil Air Patrol with a memo of Bill Parris Scholarship Fund. Checks should be mailed to:

Maryland Wing, Civil Air Patrol, 3085 Hernwood Road, Woodstock, MD  21163.
